One day my son drew a sign, and held it up on a busy street. The sign simply said:
“You are awesome. Just the way you are.”
I like the first half of the message, “You are awesome.” But that second part is even more important:
“…Just the way you are.”
Usually we’re told:
“You will be awesome… IF you whiten your teeth.”
“You will be awesome… IF fix your weaknesses.”
Yet what if the opposite is true? What if you don’t have to CHANGE who you are, but become MORE of who you are?
What if you don’t have to be BETTER, just only be DIFFERENT?
This story has a surprising ending.
